Antonopoulos K. Vineyards

Story

“With big dreams come big responsibilities.” This was the vision of Konstantinos Antonopoulos, founder of Antonopoulos K. Vineyards. It was Christmas 1983 when he started cultivating the vineyard in the Vasiliko region of Achaia, a dream that would come true. He chose the location of the vineyard because of its altitude, northern orientation, natural wind protection and, above all, the sandy, clay soil with sufficient groundwater. He planted local and international varieties.

Terroir

The vineyard is located in Demesticha, a village 40 km southeast of the city of Patras. The altitude ranges from 750 to 900 meters above sea level. The village is surrounded by mountain ranges with high mountain peaks, which provide a cold air mass on the vineyards in summer. Narrow streams hug the vineyard areas, irrigating the soil with water and ensuring an ideal temperature on summer days. In addition, the diversity of the soil ensures differences in the quality of the grapes even on the same plot. These differences in terroir contribute to the production of wines with different styles and qualities.
