Achaia Clauss
160 years of winemaking
The vineyard is located in the northern part of the Peloponnese, more precisely in the southwestern part of Patras, at the foot of Panachaikou Mountain. The vineyards lie in a flat valley and are surrounded by two rivers. The region's microclimate has evolved over the years and can now be characterized as significantly different than the rest of the region. The density of mountains contributes to the water content of the soil over time through their roots. On the other hand, in the early hours of summer days, the two rivers supply the vineyard with a mass of cold air. The soil is not heterogeneous and its composition can be characterized as soil mixture with a higher percentage. Furthermore, red and gray clay can be found in some places and, in combination with the limestone, means that the soil is favorable for the vines. In summary, the region's terroir is excellent and offers the best conditions for growing high-quality red and white grapes.
